This watch belonged to my grandfather and I recently came across it in a box in my dad's garage. My childhood memories include my grandfather showing off the watch very proudly, so I've put a new battery in it and put it on an inexpensive strap, and it's running great. What a fun way to remember him!

Awesome to have your grandfathers watch. It has an N2 date code on the case back which makes this a 1972.   This is a 1972 Bulova Accutron Spaceview.

Actually, the caseback date code of N2 would date the case to 1972 (am I reading the date code correctly?). While it's unusual to see a five year gap (1967 movement to 1972 case) it's likely that at some point your grand father sent it for service and a different (year) movement was installed, that would not have been uncommon. As with all Accutron Spaceview watches there is a possibility that the watch was converted to Spaceview but at the end of the day - you have your grandfather watch is it's WONDERFUL - congratulations on an amazing keepsake!

Thanks for the feedback!

The date code on the case is N2, and the movement is M7. (I know they're a little hard to see in the photos, but I looked with a loupe, so you're reading them correctly.)

It tracks that the watch would have been purchased in 1972 - my earliest childhood memories would have been from around that time, and my memories of the watch include my grandfather showing it off proudly (as the owner of a cool new watch would do...), and of him putting it up to my ear to hear the humming noise. It was definitely a Spaceview from the very beginning, but it makes sense that the movement would have been replaced at some point along the way.

Thanks again for the info!

Is there a case number stamped on the inside of the back?

There's supposed to be a photo in the previous comment - can you see it?
