Watch Description

I am the original owner.  It was purchased in 1967 in Wisconsin as an anniversary present.  I stopped wearing it about 1980 after I was informed that the OEM battery was not available & the watch would have to be sent to a specialist to be re-calibrated in order to have the new style battery installed.  I had the original battery removed to avoid corrosion & stored the watch.  I would like to identify the model/style since it has an unusual shape to the head.  I would also like to determine an approximate value for insurance purposes since these watches have become collectibles.

Thank you.  This is the first time I have had someone actually give it a model designation.  I have been scouting the internet for pictures of one like this & have not been able to find any.  Happy New Year.

That watch is pretty common except that it's solid gold. I would estimate it to be worth in the $600 to $700 range. If it wasn't solid gold it would be worth about $125.00. As far as using it, I have about 15 of them and run them on commonly available 344 batteries with no problems. However, it should be lubricated after sitting so long.  You will find that it is very accurate and a great timepiece.

This is great news!  Thank you!  I have been looking off & on for a couple of years & have not been able to find even one photo of this particular head style.  Can you confirm that it is a model 218D as an earlier post indicated?  I appreciate your advice on getting it back up & running.  Now all I have to do is find someone here in Phoenix that I can feel comfortable with to Lube it & replace the battery.  I stopped wearing it when I was in the car business & found myself bumping it on vehicles & I didn't want to damage it.  I also thought it to be a little heavy at the time but now I would like to wear it from occasionally because of its uniqueness & beauty.  Thank you for your feedback & I wish you a Happy New Year.

I'm not from the Phoenix area and don't know anybody there who works on Accutrons, they are kind of a specialty. I don't know if any member(s) of the forum work on Accutrons but, if not, I can provide the name of someone in Iowa and one in Michigan to whom it could be sent.
