Watch Description

14 ct gold case Bought new in '67. In Navy so maybe in Europe. Question is whether it is worth fixing as I have no memories of it. It may be worth more as gold.

Good question. The last 18k one I had made more as scrap than I could sell it for as a complete and serviced watch but only because I was able to make up a second gold filled watch out of the parts. I hated to do it, but......................

Any idea what's wrong with it?

Good ones are selling on eBay for between $400 and $650, what's it worth as scrap? Probably weighs in at around 18 grams.

Id repair the watch and keep it just as it is. You look on all these websites and will see tens of thousands of Rolexes, Longines, Omega etc etc...,  that are all solid gold, but how many times will you see a Bulova Accutron that is solid gold? Not very often. There is probably less than 2000 of them in existence now! And with gold prices going up expect to see more rare collectables melted down as mere scrap!

Well that's all well and good if you can afford to. I'd love to be sitting a few thousand dollars worth of gold Bulova's but the reallity is that I can't, food, rent, and keeping warm take priority and if no one is prepared to pay the price.......................

Maybe you would like to buy my 14k Accutron before I have to melt that one down because I can't find a buyer!
