This is my grandfather's watch - I plan to put a new battery into it and see if it works. Currently has a Union Carbide 387 battery, so I know it's more than a few years old. I think it's a very hansom piece - I have a few Omegas, and this would be just as nice to wear, but I'm not a fan of the Spidel watch band. Would like to know what kind of band it would have come with originally. Haven't decided on what I'll be doing with the watch - might need a good cleaning, and, if it runs, it would be a nice daily wearer.
A very nice design with these bow-tie cases. I am seeing a match to the Accutron '218' model, which originally would have come with a black alligator strap. There was a similar model a few years later that used a rally strap.
Nice heirloom piece.

Thanks so much - I was looking at the "bow tie" feature when trying to determine the model and I didn't come across it - thanks for locating it for me. I really like it with the black alligator strap vs. the current Spidel. I'll probably get it cleaned up a bit and put one of those on and wear the heck out of it. Battery is due in today! thanks again1
So - I guess good news and bad...
Battery came in - I popped it in - and I hear the tone, or hum from the back of it (very cool and very not what I'm used to) - but - it doesn't run - does not sweep the second hand or advance the minute hand. Only left the battery in for 2 minutes to check if it moved. So - I guess I need to get it serviced - as I understand, watches that have been sitting have probably glued themselves together internally. Or - it could have been sitting in the jewelry box because it didn't work 20 years ago - who knows! I'll update after I get it serviced.
There are a. number of good Accutron service people on this page if it helps.
