35mm Stainless Steel Case. 

*1967 appears to be the inaugural Year for the infamous Bulova Whale which I believe is a nod to the Sag Harbor Whaling tradition,  Sag Harbor being the location of the Bulova Watch factory.

eg:  This watch

a 'SEA KING'  "X" 

according to the text the vintage linebooks do not show this specific "X" variant in 1965 but do show it in 1966. 

The watch case is dated 1965, the movement is dated 1966. 

Was the "X" variant available for sale in 1965?  according to the linebooks the answer is No but it was available in 1966 proof positive. 

The movement should have been the determining factor when dating the watch, imo.

Yes there is a 1965 Linebook references for the Sea King "X".

Stephen, I have given My opinion on how to date the subject watch. 

If dated by the 1966 case date it will be the earliest instance of the Whale appearing on a Bulova watch dial.
