Watch Description

Movement model undertermined....couldn't find when looking with magnifying glass, but  that may just be my eyes. From research I believe it to be a Accutron(based on symbol on the front case, and Spaceview based on the see-thru case showing movement. The symbol M6 on the back case gave me the date. The bevel is 10k gold filled. The band appears to be also 10k gold based on some small print on the band....I believe it says 1/10k g Top Cap USA( that may just be my imagination, but thats what it appears to say.) I searched for any ads that matched the watch and yet to have found one.

This watch was my Grandfathers' and is believed to be original. Still looking into a more detailed history of the watch. I'd be happy to provide more information on request, if possible.

There are a lot of converted spaceviews out there, here is a link to check your case number:

Some watches are known to have been converted at the dealerships, others have been done much after the fact.

1966 Accutron Spaceview.  Movement model: 214   Check out the placement of the tunning fork logo on your watch compared to the location of the words "Accutron" on this 1965 Spaceview.

Go to the 1960's Decades Ad Search here.  On the right side of the page, enter the year 1966. Leave the "Model Name" dropdown menu blank (do not enter anyting in it), then  hit the "apply" button below the "Model Name" dropdown.  You'll get three ads, and the thrid is a Spaceview variant "H".

Yours looks similar to this 1966 Spaceview "H" variant ad, but I can't tell if it's an exact match.

How cool to have your grandfathers watch. I'm a huge fan of family heirlooms and I think watches are the kings and queens of jewelry heirlooms, you're are very fortunate to have this wonderful time piece. If you do plan to wear it, have it professionally serviced. We can recommend a watchmaker that has the specialized tools to service Accutrons if you're interested.

I'll vote this an Accutron Spaceview, if we can get a clearer picture and maybe confirmation on the case number, perhaps adding the "H" variation Will notes above.

Yeah... Accutron Spaceview... weather it was an "original', a convert then, or a convert now.  We'll probably never know, but by golly it looks like he's got his Grandpa's "Spaceview" to me.

I've sent some more photos I took today, to Geoff Baker. They are not great photos, but hopefully it will help to authenticate for the site. I will look into taking to a local jeweler to get some more info , like the inside case # ,and hopefully the movement model # ....I reviewed the ads that were posted by the panel member ,and think they look very similar. I noticed the band is obviously different, but the main part of the watch looked almost identicial. Thank you for all the responses, and hopefully together we can learn more about the history that was left to me. I knew the watch existed for quite some time now, but believed it was lost in the multiple moves i've made in my younger days. Im so blessed it is still with me. I don't know how well it still works, but i will be working to get it looked at very soon.

While you have it in to the shop, look at the inside of the case back and write down the numbers. It's possible that we can nail down if it is an original Space View ( per Rev Rob's post above). When the Space View fisrt arrived on the scene it was SO POPULAR that a whole cottage industry sprang up converting regular Accutron watches into clear dial - "Space View" models. Having a true original would make a VERY SPECIAL watch a bit more special.

Main Record date still reflecting one year earlier than watch date entered by owner.
