I think this is a 23 Jewels KAW. My father purchased this in 1961 around the time he got out of the Air Force and he went back to college. He wore it until 1965, when my Grandparents gave him a Rolex GMT Master which he used when he flew for Pan Am. I found it in a box of his things when we were going through his safe and he gave it to me. It hadn't been worn since 1965 and the strap was dried out and stiff. I had it in my pocket for a couple of hours, and when I took it out is was running. I set it and wore it all day. It ran for 24 hours and only lost about a minute. I had it serviced and it is now in my weekly rotation.
Thank you for the responses. My Dad had it on a Camy black lizard strap that was hard as a rock. I will have to ask him if it was on an expansion bracelet when he got it. The strap on it now is a dark blue alligator strap from another watch I own that was originally sold on the Japanese market. It was too short on that watch and it is really too short on this one. I was thinking of going with an oxblood colored leather strap, or maybe another blue one.
