Watch Description

This was my grandfather's watch. As you can see from my description above, I know very little about it. I have not opened the case, so I have no movement serial number. I haven't had any success trying to locate a picture of the same watch on the web, so I was hoping you could help. I entered 1900 as the date because the site would not take "unknown"

One of the many watches in the 23 hundred series. Generic "23"

actually, I think I just found it: 1960 President C

I guess I gave up my search too quickly. I joined this site a few weeks ago, but couldn't get my pic small enough until today (just way too busy).

Yep, one of the "four years in the making" line from 1960.

Check the back of your watch for the correct date buddy, should be M0. If you could update your header records to include the correct date (196-),  the correct movement (should be 10BZ), jewel count (23). Thanks!

Great watch, not common either.

Bob.

Bob,

Yes, there is a "MO" directly under the word Bulova on the back. I never noticed it before because the lettering is so small.

I will make the corrections above as well.

Hi Ryan, welcome to myBulova. Congratulations on having this wonderful keepsake of your grandfather. There aren't many things as personal as a watch and you're fortunate to have it. If you intend to wear it please have it service first. This type of mechanical watch requires cleaning and oiling every 3-5 years to make sure it lasts through to the next generation.

1960 President C is my vote for the ID. Nice watch!

Geoff,

Thanks for the comments. I've actually had the watch for over 10 years and only wear it occasionally. The watch was probably cleaned right before I got it, but not since. I wind it at least a dozen times a year, wearing it maybe half that. If it were waterproof, I would probably wear it more.

1960 President C from me.

Like the "florentine dial" text discription, but did note the difficulty the ad has doing the dial justice.  The ad is Black and White.....as Greyscale wasn't used in these types of ads at this time.

Welcome and a great family heirloom.

President, but I don't agree with the variant as there are mat ads for the other variants in the 1960 "Four years in the making" series. I think it is just a way for the advertiser to distinguish between each watch in the ad!

I am at two tix tentative for this one as a variant C. by this time I bet this president series had a two letter variant. we have the Bulova model price lists for this time. I just have to dig them out and check out some info there
