I WAS TOLD THIS IS AN

"AMERICAN EAGLE"

I have looked over the vintage ads and can not find this.

It is an  American Eagle, and there should be a few in the personal watch database, but we don't have any ads in the ad database yet. It has been ID'd by the unique crystal, but it has many different variants from dial color/texture, case color, to lug design.

One thing that is interesting with this watch is that those that we have in the mybulova watch database have a 1960 date of manufacture stamped on the case back, and I personally have not yet come across one that is not stamped M0, but it looks like yours has a 1961 date stamp on the movement, and 1960 on the case.

This is one of my favorite Bulova designs, and yours looks super!

Indeed it is an "American Eagle". My variant shown below sports the black linen textured dial, open tang lugs at 12:00 and hooded lug at 6:00 as well as the original band.

Yours is pictured here but with a white dial.

Agree, American Eagle. Yellow gold and black is the best! Great looking watch.

bobbee, In this case the movement date does not matter. The watch has been confirmed by an ad and we all have agreed it came with various lug and dial variations. I'd bet there's at least 6 variants based on the models I have owned and I'd bet there's more than 6 based on dials, lug combo's and mix them all up and we have another fine cup of tea to sort out.

Looks more like a cup of mud Shawn, but.....

The (most likely) incomplete model lists indicate 18 variants.  Variants are listed differently in different areas of the list, with some sections showing gold color and dial color of some variants. Note 12213 doesn't occur in top list, but in later lists (further down below).

below are some of the listings w/ gold and/or dial color:
