Bulova American Girl "Z" from 1958
Case is 10KT Gold Filled, multi-faceted/sculptured design; caseback is dated L8. Running on a 21 Jewel 5AD movement dated L8. Bracelet is the original spring type; 1/10 10KT GF signed Bulova. Dial is white with silver markers, even numbers. Photos taken without crystal.
Two adverts showing this watch as a $71.50 model, "Z" variant referenced to the 1958 Price list for Model 5168 - "Z". 1960 Advert 1957 Advert

I also need help identifying, and possibly buying, a replacement crystal for this watch. The approximate dimensions are 10.8mm x 8.5mm. Thanks

A couple possibles on a crystal, these are for flat bezels, and a tad bigger than your measurement
Definitely a American Girl...

Ken - I think you're right with the American Girl ID but I don't make the connection to the "Z" variant. I find an ad for a 1957 "Z" but it is not a match? All the ads I find for this version show no variant.
American Girl

I see the 1957 ad for a "Z" and it is certainly not the same style, good catch; the model number is different also - and when I look further up the 1958 price list for that model number there is indeed another "Z" variant; so "Z" is listed twice on the price list, once for model 5717 and once for model 5168; very strange. Would not have thought to look for two of the same variants.

As can be seen in the 1958 Price Guide the Model Reference numbers for the American Girl "Y" and "Z" models are as seen here:
And can be seen to match the Model Reference numbers in the 1958 ad snippet.
"Y" for (yellow gold) and "Z" for (white).

Nice watch! American Girl.
$71.50 would be $580 in today's money.
Given the evidence presented, American Girl Z. I currently have 14 different models but not this one. I've had it in both white and yellow at some point in time. Getting all of them would make a pretty cool collection. I think I've posted 5 of my favorites. Have fun with them, truly a testiment to the brilliant designs they produced.
Based on the pricing guide information we have, white gold would be the Bulova Miss America "Z"
"American Girl", "Z".
Ok, am I missing something here?
