I was given this watch by my grandmother shortly before her death in 1999. I was told this watch was given to her by my grandfather at their wedding in 1948, but the back indicates that it was made in 1956. This watch is still fully functional and tells time perfectly.
Any ideas or suggestions on what model this may be would be appreciated as I am new to researching Boluva watches. My best guess would be some version of a La Petite?
Welcome to myBulova and congrats on this lovely heirloom watch! You are correct that if it is marked L6 that is the date stamp for 1956. Maybe your grandfather gave her more than one watch and got confused. Your watch is a nurse watch. I have seen an ad for it recently but I am not finding it at the moment. I will keep looking and hopefully be back with an ad and ID soon. Thank you for sharing!
It is close to a Flight Nurse in this ad but the case is a tad different https://www.mybulova.com/1960-Bulova-Watch-Ad-7705 and it is also like this R.N. model from 1961 with a different shaped crystal. I will keep looking for an exact match.
Hello MegLane9881, welcome to myBulova. It's wonderful that you have this amazing keepsake from your grandmother, congratulations.
Once Kathy has her mind made up I'll join the conversation ;).......OK - I'm ready - I agree that your watch should be named:
1956 Bulova American Nurse A, thanks for sharing it.

The ad above for the $49.50 Flight Nurse would appear to be incorrect. The only $49.50 Flight Nurse models were for the A and B variants, identified here (not included in the 1955 pricelists).
That leaves the American Nurse models, which the pricelist showing only two variants at that price, A for Yellow gold and C for white gold, which were also new models for 1955.
