American Girl, very pretty too.

I would agree with American Girl "J" , but the date on this ad is 1951. I didn't find any American Girls advertised before 1950 and the subject watch is dated 1947.

nicoroc, can you supply us with a photo of the case back?

Agreed, nice call Geoff, this watch is not a 1947, it is an American Girl from the 50's, and I am certain of that as I have had several and have both white and yellow old versions as we speak. if the movements dated 47 it's been swapped out from the original.

Maybe you are right Shawn, as the jewel count differs from the ad.

Now we are cooking. I would agree that the movement has been swapped out cause the case is very nice and most definitely an American Girl J. But I would have to vote for non compliant for now.

I've checked both of mine and they have the 21Jewel, 5AD movement dated 1952 and 1953. Subject movement is 17J and dated pre American Girl, had to have been swapped out.

Do you collect these models Shawn?
Great subject if you do, because of the unusual bands!

Hi Bobbee, No I don't collect them but they sell well and I do have a whack of them, probably have  about 20 or more in my inventory. I've sold dozens of them, and Lorraine, my better half has 4 in her collection. The American Girl and Canadian Girl are the only line of watches that I know of that were bangle or cuff watches. I know I should post them cause it's all good stuff but I just can't seem to find the time. They do merit the same exposure as the Academy Award line, IMO. Just way to many unique designs and I just picked up another I had never seen before, Lorraine has already laid claim to it, LOL. If I was comfortably retired I would like to document those that I have or have had. All my pics are archived so maybe someday I can go back and post them.
