I believe this is a 1940's Senator. It is a 14k rolled gold case with a stainless back. The movement date code appears to be a triangle AND a square so I believe it may be a 1945 or 1946. It has blued (possibly) cathedral hands with a 6 o'clock small seconds subdial. There is hand etching in the inside of the case back that I can not make out. It may be a date or the watchmaker's initials?

Thanks for sharing your grandfather's heirloom with us. Based on case s/n and 45/46 date stamp, your watch is a 1946 Senator Like THIS ONE. It appears the dial was reprinted (or over cleaned) at some point, as it is minus the white overlay on the numbers. Dial color and case tarnish suggest this watch is rose gold plate. It should polish up that color. Hand scratched marks on the back case interior are Jeweler's marks from a cleaning service or repair.
