Based on lug shape, dial configuration and color along with the recessed crown; I'm inclined to go with your first choice as well. The Omega overstamp on the movement with a case s/n starting with a "0" dates it as 1940.

Great. Thanks for the quick examination. I also heard the following.
The Montgomery looks like the Lone Eagle and the Ambassador, but it is quite a bit longer. The Lone Eagle and Ambassador are about 38.7 and 41. They also use the 10 series motor, whereas the Montgomery uses a 7 series motor.
