Excellent!

What's everyones thoughts. Are we seeing wear on the white gold filled layer or the green gold plate layer?

It's still hard to say, but I'm leaning towards wear on the green gold plate layer.

Tim, for what you can see, does the wear look deeper than the white gold filled layer down to the underneath base metal?

Panel, did we determine that 'Bulova Quality' was rolled gold/filled  or plate?

Hmmm hi sir ! I think it’s hard to say but for 90 years this watch has survived, I think this looks like the wear of the white gold layer revealing the brass. I have other gold plated watches that have suffered worse so I don’t think those gold patches are the remnants of the green gold layer but instead the base brass peeking underneath the white gold

Slight brassing to the high points on the lugs, I do not see green gold inlay anywhere on the case.

Thank you for the clear pictures. The ridges look white gold to me. Hence I confirm Lafayette as the right name.

I think Alex has called it correctly. I'll walk back my first impression and go with Lafayette too.

Interesting ad that Alex posted here:

Lafayette

It says "smartly shaped engraved case". The subject watch doesn't appear to have any engraving. But take a look at this 1931 in the unknown files.

I don;t think the ad referenced above is depicting either the 1931 engraved unknown or subject watch.  Look at the front of the ad casing - it appears to show multiple engraved (?) lines surrounding the crystal. There are double the number of lines there would be if the ad was depicting a single raised bar on the verticals next to the crystal. This is most obvious on the crown side in the ad.

I agree with you Neetstuf. It appears that an Elgin was in the ad right above the Bulova. I would suspect this was an ad produced by a single jeweler and not a dealer ad supplied by Bulova. It could be just a generic drawing of a watch with Bulova printed on the dial.

The case on the left measures  36.4mm lug to lug X 26.5mm wide.

The case on the right, the 'DEWEY' measures 37.1mm lug to lug X 26.6 mm

The numbers don't lie.

Thanks everyone I think we now have our concensus.
