1910 production date?  Does have the Bulova W. Co. movement signature, but I doubt it's that old...

Don't even know if it's a Bulova case, dial not signed, but not uncommon for these earlier Bulova. I've PMed owner a couple times for update, but it's an old record.

Nice clean looking watch with a very nice enamel(?) dial. I'd hate to delete this watch since we don't have that many older pocket watches.

It is nice, and I was thinking more along the lines of collectively "guessing" on a better date of production, editing the record to our "best guess" and noting it was originally dated 1910.

....and maybe deleting the unknown movement SN entry, as it appears to have no mvnt serial number vs implying it has one which is unknown   etc...

No date, no watch, sorry but I say delete it, nice as it is......

I've got a strong feeling this dial is a replacement. I see this a lot, as the porcelain dials would often crack and chip. Or, possibly it was a metal Bulova dial with damage. This is a Swiss movt, but I still don't have a positive ID for it, still looking....

Who is the case manufacturer? Looks like a star watch case if it is a screw on back. Do we have have any examples of American standard cases that are screw on as opposed to snap back or hinged? Rob I have a similar dial same material marked Hudson maxim. The movement is certainly early enough. But the enameled markings on these dials did nut cone off easy and there were certainly common dials. I have 2 safety barrels. They are possibly as early as the long click spring 17 jewels. Even more interesting I have one safety barrel that is a 7 jewel. Possibly earlier than the long click spring. And one that is a 17 jewel. Does Bulova ever make it easy on us?! :-)

It is possible the dial is a standard enamel one bought from a third party, and I have seen examples that have had a manufacturer/importer name added on later, not fired into the dial.

These added names can be removed by over-enthusiastic cleaning quite easily.

BTW, I have been advised this may be an early OMEGA ebauche. It does bear a close resemblance to the cal. 42.7, or the earlier 19'''.

This may likely be one of Bulova's own. They had quite a few pocket watch movts that were made in their own Swiss factory. I've never been able to find out if they bought out an existing company or made these from scratch, it does seem unlikely in such a short period of time, but not impossible.

This is exactly the same movt found in early Rubaiyat pocket watches with 17 jewels. This is the lower end 7 jewel version, but these were all 19'''. The only 19''' record I can find is for an in house ebauche, the 19AT, but I am not convinced this is that. My gut thinks this is late teens.

We should keep this record, even if only as a movt, as it is the only 19''' pocket watch movt we have a picture of.

Richard, I'd be interested in seeing your HM, do you have any pics you can post to the DB?
