Non-Bulova dial but appears to have original radium hands.  The dial is similar to some Bulova dials of this era.

Wow, check out that serial number.
All Bulova to me. It's always been my belief that Bulova did not always have the name on the dial in their very early watches and this would be one on their earliest.

I think I may have an advert coming that has this watch, which will probably just be a model number without a model name.

I agree Mark. The ad shows the 18K. model and I would think the plate version could possibly have a slightly less fancy dial. Just my thoughts on it. What a marvellous watch, and mint too.

Bob - that is a marvelous watch! Does it say 18 or 10k filled in that case back? The 6714 was available in a 25 year (18k filled) case. I'd be tempted to give it the 6714 model.

Stephen - do you really think that's the serial number?

I believe it is the serial number, but with anything Bulova you can never be 100% certain can you .

Hello gents. The case says 19k gold filled. I was slightly mystified by this, but I have discovered that this quality is used by jewellers.

Possibly 8AI? Not that I have any info either way. This is a real oldie. It's possible there are identifying marks under the dial, which is common for this era. It also may have a mark under or near the balance, on the main plate.

Hello Reverend,

The movement is BAI, when you study the original image it is quite clearly a "B" and not a mis-stamped "8".

Under the balance it says SWISS.  I'll take some more photos from different angles to see if I can make out any more marks.  As to the dial, it has been in situ a long time as there are no witness marks on the securing screws as far as I can tell.

I'm glad it is of some interest to everyone - I bought it because I liked it!

We LOVE it, and appriciate your entering these important early Bulova into the database.  ...and going the extra mile and putting forth effort to take more pictures etc... Thanks so much!
