1953 Bulova Lenox w/17j 10BT movement

Submitted by Wynot on

Greetings and Happy New Year.  I've got a 1953 Lenox that is missing the case back.  Any thoughts as to where I can source one?  Thanks.

It is difficult sometime to know what watch a case back belongs to once it is disconnected from the case.  Your best option might be to do an Ebay saved search for "Bulova Lenox Case" and see if a low cost one pops up.  I have many case backs but generally have to resort to eyeball and fit to figure out if it fits a case.  I also have numerous incomplete watches myself with saved searches.  I recently just lost an auction for a dial I had been looking for a long time.  Bummer.

Thanks.  As you suggested, I searched eBay.  I found a parts watch priced higher than I would want to pay.   I took a chance with the 'Make Offer' feature offering less than half of asking price.  He accepted.  So, I'm closer to putting together a birth year watch for my brother.

I have another watch that I'm trying to bring back, a Wittnauer automatic model 5012, caliber 11SR (AS1707).  My Dad gave it to (the same) brother for college graduation 50 years ago.  I found a beautiful NOS dial that would have been perfect.  I tried to bargain and, next thing you know, it was gone.  Some day I'll learn.  Thanks again.
