The movement was made between 1936 and 1947 but I could not make out the date stamp on it to give you an exact date. The case looks more 1960's to me but I could not find a match in the 30's, 40's or 60's and without a date stamp it is also hard to know for sure. The solid gold and platinum watches did not always follow the same serial # dating as the gold filled watches. However, if it did I would date it at 1941. It could also be a marriage of a 1960's case and 1940's movement. Here are a couple more ads from the database but nothing looks like a match. The first two are 1938 and the last 1940.

No doubt all Bulova and with the case being stamped so, chances are the movement in it might very well be original. So if we can determine the date code that might just help narrow down our search and suggest a year.
Very rare to see a platinum model. $500 was a good investment!
Added a clear movement photo and you can clearly see the date stamp now of a shield putting the movement at 1939. I think I would go with that date. The dial looks like a perfect match for the case.

Just wow. Amazing. Thank you!!!
I'm still so curious what was paid for it originally. I haven't seen an ad yet It's simply amazing and gorgeous.
Also happy with 1939 as the year.
Lyndi4g, any chance you can count the diamonds on the case and band? This may help us in the future if and when we find an advert.
