I've seen these old fabric straps in 3 flavors.

1 piece, (referred to as bracelet).

1 piece physically stitched at either end to the lugs.

and

1 piece with mounts at each end.

I have examples of all 3 types.

Not the watch in question , but I thought I'd post this as an example of what I believe is happening with these "S" variant watches.

After looking at the above listing of watches I've just had a light bulb moment. Only a small one.

The first number of the model number may be based on the movement caliber.

976 should have a 9AN or something similar.
6716 should have a 6PPI or similar
5716 should have a 5P or similar

Anyone see any holes in this thought?

unfortunately I do not have the band.

 

It would seem the -S models are Our first published look at a Bulova variant.

Any advise on a reputable restorer for the watch? Id like to get it back to its original glory. Right now it looks like an oxidised mess. Also, would restoration hurt its value?
