Well it could be something else, a generic American Clipper. That I would "confirm". I thought the ticks indicated degree to which we think it's an "F" in this instance. One tick meant something like "maybe", two meant "probably" and three meant "as sure as we can get w/ information on hand". For me, a two tick "probably" tells us it's an American Clipper for sure, and probably an "F".
All Merchant Marines are sailors, but not all sailors are Merchant Marines.
Bob,
My 'agenda' is to correctly identify Vintage Bulova Watches.
To Date the 'AMERICAN CLIPPER' "C", "D" and "F" variants are identified by ad which leaves the "A", "B" and "E" variants, possibly more unaccounted for.
A vintage database ad Dated 1938 shows the 'RITE-ANGLE' and two model numbers, one on Leather one on a Bracelet. http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/bulova-ad-1938-… the ad on page 5 of this thread shows the 2 models as different variants http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/288/1938bulovariteangleg.jpg which makes Your statement incorrect.

I would also like to add there may very well be a variant 'G' and 'H' and some. We simply do not know how many variants existed.
For regardless of the engraved until I see an engraved with leather its either a confirmed AE or a tentative AC 'F'.
The bottom line for me is that 'yes' it could be something else that we have not seen yet in the adverts.
If only you could do so with a respectable amount of consistency. Looking back at the 1972 Diamond Empress, you gave this 2 ticks without any jewel content or proper details apart from a passing resemblance to one ad that is three years older than the subject watch. You are forever posting other watches as references, and muddying already unclear waters. Smoke and mirrors, I seem to remember once being said.
American Clipper "F" 3 ticks in my opinion, now I'm done.
Thank you all. Despite what is may seem and how our opinions may differ, this is axactly what the Panel is meant to do, otherwise I'd be sitting here all high and mighty and say you are all wrong and its my site and I want it to be a 'XYZ'. Not going to happen.
We all agreee that its not the way it works and that we are all entitled to our opinions and to cast our vote. This has been done and I thank the panel.
For the myBulova.com record this watch sits as a tentative American Clipper 'F'. Maybe one day it will be confirmed, maybe one day it will not. That's the beauty of what we do.
It is a major task we undertake...lets please not forget that point.

Hey, if Hitler thought that way there may be no Autobahn.
