I'm unsure of the year and the case back says " BULOVA NO C13823 10 KT.R.G. P CASE".
Either my Grandfather or Father received this watch from Ralston Purina for selling Hog Chow (pig feed). They both owned feed stores that sold Purina. Grandpa started selling in the '30s and opened his store in 1951. Dad sold Purina until his passing in 2014.
I found this watch in the "junk drawer" and had it serviced which included new main spring.
They didn't record or take photos of the movement when being serviced.
The watch cleaned up nice and I will treasure it.
What a absolutely wonderful heirloom! So glad you got it serviced to enjoy and celebrate your grandfather and father. The date code on the back is N0 for 1970 so I am going to change that for you. Will be looking for a model for you.
Edited to add I agree with Geoff on the ID
1970 Bulova Sea King "AL"
Congrats on a super cool heirloom watch, it's very nice. This is the second Bulova we've had with a Hog Chow dial. First one is HERE (but older and a different model.) I think this is a 1970 Bulova Sea King AL. That was a model Bulova advertised as available with a custom dial as seen in THIS advert (top row far right). HERE is one with the factory dial.
Thank you Kathy and Geoff for your kind words and expertise in identifying the year and model.
I had spent hours on mybulova and search sites looking for the year and model. (I thought NO meant "No" and didn't consider it for the date code).
Again thanks to mybulova and the panel! ~noble h.
