This is not a BULOVA but i put it on today.
It is a very close 'homage' to the D12 Military watches. 12 iconic military wristwatches commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence during WWII. Made by Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex, they all feature a black dial-dial, railroad track chapter ring and seconds sub, Arabic numerals, and the "broad arrow" military mark.
The lume is insane on this one! It lasts all night and is still legible 10 hours later.. the dial is crisply printed and has almost all the right design motifs.. it is 36mm but actually it works as a WWW , despite it's oversize. It comes on a canvas single pass strap, just like the originals often did.
Now i do have a b&w picture taken in 1943 of my Grandfather- a 'Desert Rat ' when a Lance Corporal - 7th Armoured DIv, RASC, 8th Army, taken in the North African desert in Tunisia with what looks to be one of these watches on! I never knew what happened to this watch but i did inherit his Army issue pen knife !
These can sell for quite a few $1000s these days. Some manufacturers examples being much rarer than others. I believe there are under 50 completed collections in the world with all 12.
It's a lovely historic looking watch and i enjoy wearing it. it cost about £125 new.
Now Vertex have reissued the watch in 36mm case diameter recently but it costs £2500 . This looks just as good I think for a fraction of the price.

These military style watches have sure can back into fashion with a number of company (including Bulova) digging into their archives to reissue them.
Is the D12 also known as the Dirty Dozen, or am I thinking of something else?

Yes indeed, i have 2 Bulova A-17s and at 38mm they really are a nice size!
Yes D12 is short for "Dirty Dozen"
I'm wearing my 1959 Miss America B today, since I am making a bunch of tatted lace for a skirt edging and she is delightfully unobtrusive. For once I'm not wearing a GOT! (even goddesses deserve vacations)

I do really like how these smaller watches are making a comeback. This one is a good one as those black hands really stand out against the white dial making telling the time much easier than many other models of the era.

Small but it looks the Piece..
How legible is that for such a tiny watch? Shows good design ethos. A watch has a primary function.. to enable you to tell the time.. and at a glance.
My preference is always black face with white hands. Works for me!

It's remarkably legible! Much better than my '63 Hamilton Elinor (which was my great-grandmother's and what got me into dainty ladies' watches) which has silver hands on a white dial, but not as good as my 70s Soviet Chaika which is silver hands on a deep blue dial. But honestly? Even if it wasn't legible, it's so convenient while I am lacemaking that it is worth any additional milliseconds needed to read it.

Wearing a 1965 Senator “R”. All kinds of goodness going on with this watch. One of my favorites. This watch always puts me in a great mood. Several compliments today on this splendidly designed watch.

I wore one of my more modern watches today.
A Luminox Series 3250.. Sapphire crystal. Tritium hands and markers which are T25 radioactive. Solid stainless steel case and back. US Navy Seals are supposed to wear these but i just think it's a nice watch? I paid about half the Retail price maybe 3 years ago now. Quartz Ronda movement . It's a big watch and i know it's not a Bulova but it's a lovely modern watch with 24 hour legibility! I find the black face white hands and res second sweep hand really nice to look at! I've had a lot of positive comments about this watch. I really like their Luminox P-38 GMT watch too but cannot find it at a decent 
price

Wearing a Bulova 1955 23 Jewel Calendar watch. I love this watch. The case has interesting design elements and the lugs flow from the case to band with artistic detail. The dial strategically places date, day, time and second information in way that does not overcrowd or overwhelm the space. The watch is in near mint condition as I bought it from Mr. NOS himself. I found myself looking at this watch all day. It really is a stunner.
Truth is, I miss very few watches that have left my collection, this one however can come home anytime you wish Lynda.

Wearing a 1935 Bulova “Champ”. It has a 17-jewel unadjusted 13AP movement that utilizes an early "Pendule" bumper-style automatic winding mechanism that swings back and forth.
Besides the automatic movement mechanical engineering feat… I find the watch’s “upside down” orientation distracting and the design elements underwhelming. But again, the movement is a historically heralded achievement.

It's amazing (well not really, it is a Bulova after all) that it's still working. This type of tech back then was cutting edge and didn't last that long.

SNAP...well sort of.
Today I wore a 1927 Bulova Lone Eagle....After a complete overhaul and service I took it for a test drive today before shipping off to my son in San Fran to enjoy and show off.
I love it when they keep great time...could be that new mainspring I added.

Beautiful DECO design! Band does look very similar to the add. Glad to hear you wear it often.
Wore a 1959 Sea King DW to work today. The various wafer-thin 50's variants are some of my favorites. I have a Speidel Thin-line expansion band on this one. Super thin watch with thin-line flex band is an awesome combo. Almost as good as peanut butter and chocolate. Almost!

Wearing a 1935 Bulova Nurse. No way this watch looks that old. The style is pretty modern for 1935 in my opinion.

Wearing a 1957 President “G”. The mirror dial makes this watch a stand out. Hope to find the original watch band. For now the black alligator band adds a timeless look to the watch.
