This my 1953 Bulova Cavalier in 14k Solid Gold. It uses the 10CSC 17j L3 marked autowind movement. The dial face is pristine. The hands are pristine, the gold case is beautiful, the case back is in great shape showing a few sctatches but not a lot of wear. Lettering is still vet clean and crisp. The locking ring has severe corrosion. whoever wore this watch must have had very corrosive skin oil. I have it on a new production alligator grain leather strap with vintage signed Bulova 14k solid buckle. At 34.75mm case(excluding the crown) this is one of the largest cases of the time period. Its an impressive watch now, back then it must have really stood out. Of coarse by todays standards its a tiny little thing compared to the hub cap size things that are all the rage.
If there any ideas on where to get a period locking ring, I would love some help there.
The crown might be original. I have a 1955 14k Cavalier in very good, unpolished condition. The crown is stamped Bulova, however it is not easy to see it nowadays. The crown itself is 14k as well, and the above watch has been polished. The Bulova stamp on the crown may be very hard to see in photographs. The crown on my cavalier looks just like that crown.
