Pictures of watch as received .
It was ticking a bit, but would stop. Cleaned balance, a couple spots of oil, and it's running great.
Cleaned up nice. (No pics yet.)
But I'm still not sure what model to list it under. Blue dial is rather minimalist. Nice matte finish. Hour markers are flat with luminous beads right at the edge of dial.
I don't think I've seen the whale with just the outline before. (not filled in.)
Movement = 11ANACD
Thanks!
If I had to guess, and I will, You're describing an 'OCEANOGRAPHER' .
Clipper AQ in the 1972 ads has the whale as described.
Any more pics?
Date King. Not sure why the whale isn't solid white.
Looking very similar to one of the "Bulova Excellence Collection" I have been looking at recently. Not a lot known about them as far as I can gather,try Googling the 3 words above and see what you can get.
BTW, lovely watch, strap looks original too IMO.
I've seen the Whale this way before. - http://www.mybulova.com/node/4290
Also Clipper AM and AQ from 1972 as stated above.
Band is nice. Signed "Kevin Drema" and has a Bulova clasp.
I question whether it's orignal, as it has a slight "bend to fit" look between the lugs.
Watch is still performing great.
