I read somewhere that the BXW we see on Swiss movements is an US import code spicific for Bulova required on "finished" movements coming into USA. It was not required on Swiss eubauchs coming to USA. Other watch manufacturers had their own codes assigned to them. I just don't remember when this requirement started.
Can anyone refresh my memory....or correct it please?

To My knowledge BXW indicates a Bulova Movement produced in Switzerland and has no relavence to a U.S. 'import code', it merely indicates the Movement is Swiss manufactured.

Still looking for a date range for this requirement. Also thinking.... someone said a case SN w/ first charactor being a letter rather than number may have been used on watches intended for other than USA markets.
So a swiss movement made during the timeframe of the BXW requirement but lacking such a hallmark may be likely to be in a case w/ first SN letter?
